This Pats fan is going to have a hard time with this game. Cheering for the Chiefs!? But realistically they’re going to get clobbered, so it’s all irrelevant anyway.

How good actually is Gonzalez? Teams are certainly treating him as the best Pats corner this year, but some (like the Ravens this past weekend) have had some success throwing at him. How does he compare with the other top corners in the league?

While I’ve never been to Arrowhead, it’s an iconic place with a lot of history. Not fun to see it abandoned when it really doesn’t sound like it needs to be.

There’s a small group of committed people in my small town who protest every week, but we’re a long way from getting something of the scale of the No Kings protests.
That was a catch in the endzone. Ravens were robbed.
noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•‘Humbly, I’m sorry’: Marjorie Taylor Greene says she’s turning a new leaf after years of divisive comments61·1 个月前There’s literally a movement within MAGA to repeal the right of women to vote. Yes, I absolutely believe that the misogyny is present in today’s GOP. Further, multiple polls and other research studies have found that a significant number of voters in the US does not support the idea of a woman for president. Here are a few references:
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1532673X251369844
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4782780-americansready-female-president-dipping-survey/
Anecdotally, Michelle Obama recently observed the same thing: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5607777-michelle-obama-us-not-ready-woman-president/
And if you combine her observation with the GOP views on women as president reflected in this pew research poll (notably “Republicans (86%) are twice as likely as Democrats (43%) to say it is not at all or not too important if they ever see a woman elected U.S. president”), I think there’s ample reason to believe that a Republican candidate for president would struggle to gain support from a statistically relevant group of voters.
And no, I do not think that Clinton And Harris lost only because they’re women. I did not say that at. Evidence suggests that misogyny was one of many factors, though.
noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•‘Humbly, I’m sorry’: Marjorie Taylor Greene says she’s turning a new leaf after years of divisive comments43·1 个月前I think enough of the MAGA base is incapable of voting for a woman that she starts in a pretty deep hole even within her party. I don’t see her getting the nomination, and if she does I see her struggling to inspire turnout in the general. Sexism impacted both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, and will be even harder for a GOP candidate to overcome.
I kinda like this Pats uniform tonight. I don’t usually like alternates, but this one is pretty good.
noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Rep. Jared Golden, moderate Democrat from Maine, won't seek reelection in key midterm race21·2 个月前People are saying we’re better off without him, but this is a very conservative district (voted for Trump 3 times) and analysts are suggesting that his withdrawal means the district is likely flipping GOP next year. It’s entirely possible that his withdrawal is what keeps the GOP in the house majority.

Trump is going to do everything in his power to make life in NYC hell, and with help from the right wing media he’ll pin it on Mamdani. As you can see from today’s New York Post cover, they’re already laying the foundation.

He had put out a call a few weeks ago for a kidney donor. That was the first I learned of his sickness. As a long time Pats fan, I saw a lot of him during his playing career and was moved by the news. I started exploring the kidney donation process, since I appeared to meet his criteria. I set things aside a week or so ago, and then yesterday saw this news.😢
noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•MTG pressures Johnson to reconvene House as shutdown becomes one of the longest in US history24·2 个月前We should be passing bills that make President Trump’s executive orders permanent.

noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•The lone US House Democrat to vote with Republicans on a shutdown draws a primary challenge31·3 个月前That’s my fear. The district Dems will decide that they want a more reliable Democrat in the primary, and their candidate will get crushed in the general election in this conservative district.
The only reason he’s in office right now is because he convinced Trump voters to also vote for him. To win in Maine’s 2nd, a candidate will need to do that. I’m incredibly skeptical that his primary challenger is going to have much success with that.
noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•The lone US House Democrat to vote with Republicans on a shutdown draws a primary challenge51·3 个月前Committee control is the big reason. Even if he’s not the most reliable vote, the Dems get to control the House agenda if they have the majority. And it’s not like he’s 100% Republican with his voting record, either.
noahm@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•The lone US House Democrat to vote with Republicans on a shutdown draws a primary challenge42·3 个月前In fairness to Golden, he’s one of very few Dem reps to win in a Trump district, and Maine’s 2nd is very much a Trump district. He can only win by attracting some Trump voters. He does this by aligning with them on gun control (or lack thereof) and some social issues.
As to Golden being a DINO, he still counts toward a Dem majority in the House, and that’s super important.
If Golden loses the primary, the Dem candidate is going to have a very hard time winning the general. And then we’re looking at mini-Trump, former Maine governor and Florida resident Paul LePage, getting elected.
