Been playing since the first versions of EA, the game been praised many times for its pathfinding and organic road generator. But after the launch of version 1, I feel that is worse than before. The people crossing backyards instead of creating a main road between houses is driving me insane.
In my experience, pathfinding was always a bit funky in Foundation. I always had to shape the roads via walls and decorations.
I also seem to have more problems with logistical efficiency with higher population levels (200-250); I will note that I optimise overall town design to have clusters built around service buildings and markets.
I honestly lose interest once I reach ~250 as the game becomes a slog and it becomes difficult to fully realize the creative component of the game (custom building and neighbour designs).
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, pathfinding was always a bit funky, but used to be fun seeing people generating roads, sometimes I needed to use the ‘Forbidden Land’ to make things work. After the launch of v1, they are taking longer paths because they don’t create new ones. For me, like I said in the post, the most infuriating thing is they crossing the houses backyard to go somewhere. I arrived at 650 pop in my last game, and it was struggling a bit when painting areas and putting buildings. I have a decent gaming pc, so I hope they fix it soon. I was also having logistical effeciency problems, with the granaries full of something and the markets are empty, with the market tenders ‘waiting for work’. I had to cheat the markets to keep playing, as I spent hours trying to fix it.
