Amid growing calls from lawmakers and human rights groups to shut down the sprawling Dilley Immigration Processing Center in southern Texas, an analysis shows the number of people incarcerated at the notorious immigration jail for children and families has nearly tripled in recent months.
Texas lawmakers and attorneys for immigrant families say a growing number of children at the facility are suffering in dangerous and inhumane conditions. People incarcerated at Dilley were quarantined after at least two became sick with measles last week. In another recent case, an 18-month-old girl was hospitalized with a life-threatening lung infection after spending two months in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the migrant jail. The girl was reportedly returned to Dilley after spending 10 days at the hospital and denied prescribed medication, according to a federal lawsuit. She was only freed after lawyers filed an emergency petition demanding her release.
As the nation’s main large immigration jail designed to hold families — though the Trump administration is racing to build more — families are transferred from across the country to a remote part of Texas as they wait weeks or months to see an immigration judge. Recent federal data show that the average daily population exploded from an average of 500 people a day in October to around 1,330 a day in late January, according to Detention Reports, a new tool that maps data on 237 immigration jails nationwide.

Imagine the fucking scum of the earth who view their fellow human beings like livestock, including children. They’re entirely driven by the incentive to maximize their own profits by maximizing the number of people packed into the private detention centers, because they, like many elected officials who create the policy and laws that are used to legally justify this shit, own stock in these private prisons.
I’m trying to imagine the kind of person who really is fully aware of the depths of this entire profit driven operation (one might even call it a public-private “deep state”) and sees nothing wrong with it. I know for a fact that local news in red states (as well as most national news), downplays this kind of information, and there are many (if not the majority) of people supporting this shit without having a clue of what they’re actually supporting.
I’m sure that there are indeed some people who will continue to support this kind of exploitation even if they did know. If not because they’re also profiting, because they’ve become so brainwashed into obediently supporting an authoritarian leader, they will continue to cheer their own exploitation and demise, like people trapped under a dictator in North Korea or members of any cult, who become indoctrinated against trusting their own perception of reality instead of even considering their dear leader, who they truly believe was sent by God, could be a false prophet.
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature of 50+ years of information control and targeted propaganda campaigns against democracy by the oligarchs of the billionaire class. Donald Trump has made the most successful messenger, and to be clear, fuck that guy I hope he ends up on trial for crimes against humanity, but if it wasn’t him, it would be somebody else. He’s the packaging that sells this shit, but once he’s gone, it doesn’t just go away.
They just find new packaging to sell their product, because the reality is, these are their crimes against humanity. These are their policies. The dirt poor rednecks cheering their own demise while they’re being kept intentionally sick, uneducated, and poor are serving their purpose. They’re products these Oligarchs have created to provide people with yet another distraction from the real problem of the unaccountable faceless machine they have created.
The absolutely pathological selfishness and greed that drives these oligarchs, that we as a society have always enabled and even cheered at various points, is what has allowed these people to create the faceless machine that justifies suffering for profit as simply a cost of doing business. They’re not even the first ones to do it, and history has only encouraged them to model themselves after others.
Despite being allowed to profit so greatly, being allowed to literally get away with so much murder and destruction and face zero consequences, it’s still not enough because it will never be enough. It doesn’t ever end unless we as a society make it end. Imagine the kind of people who would prefer the children they have kidnapped and hold captive, die of preventable diseases rather than potentially losing a penny of profits by giving them access to medical care and humane living conditions.
Because they do not see these children as human. As far as they’re concerned, once they’ve already been added to the total incoming headcount, they’ve served their purpose. What happens after that, doesn’t really matter. As if society should just understand those children were brought into existence simply to keep this disgusting machine running for the people that actually matter. This is their world to do as they please. They create the reality, we just live it.
This kind of never ending drive for taking more and more, which has recently grown to the historically highest level on record, is not a justifiable or admirable trait. It’s a mental illness that will eventually destroy us all if we allow it to continue.

These are the same kind of people who were allowed to escape justice despite helping to build the faceless killing machine of Nazi Germany. Despite their role in genocide the family legacies of these billionaires continued to flourish long after WWII because there was never accountability. The Nazi soldiers brought to trial were simply a way to appease humanity and history, while the architects of the machine were allowed to be a living lesson that suffering and genocide can indeed be forgotten by history as long as it’s justified as the cost of business.
If/when men like Trump are put on trial for their crimes, I hope we don’t make the same mistake of excluding the newest generation of Nazi billionaires from accountability, and allowing their legacies to continue to profit from their blood money.
