Now I just gotta do the sides and the inside as well as fix up the terrain around it. I also might add glowstone to illuminate the windows.
I like the aesthetic, with a Norman style keep and the gatehouse on the curtain wall.
Have you considered digging a moat around the outside of the curtain wall? You could flood it too, but most actual medieval moats were dry. Their main function is to make the walls harder to ladder over and to stop siege towers from reaching the walls.
Thanks! I did take inspiration from Norman castles so glad you like it. I thought of adding some fountains because it does need more water. But it’s kind of on a hill so not sure if a moat would look good or not? But I might try that out and see. Its’ a cool idea and would let me make a drawbridge since there is a gatehouse already.
Yeah, the location on a hill is really good. I was just thinking of a ditch about maybe 5 blocks deep and 8 blocks wide up against the outer wall. The walls that are already on the edge of the hill don’t need it.
A good example of what I’m thinking of is Coch Castle in Wales.
Ok thanks I will try it and see and thansk for the idea. I love welsh castles. I went to Castell Rhuddlan and Beeston Castle. Well Beeston is technically not a Welsh castle but close enough lol.
Looks nice. I wonder, instead of glowstone, which is IMO a bit ugly. Do end rods on either ends of the inside window frames look good?
You are correct that they don’t look good but I wanted blocks that are easily farmable. You would not notice them anyway because I take screenshots from far away. I might try lanterns but making end rods is slightly expensive and in my opinion it looks a bit modern. But thanks for the advice! :) I will consider other stuff like maybe shroom lights or frog lights instead. Might have to make a frog light farm. Plus, there are dark oak fences so that kind of obscures the blocks. Good idea though. I will try out different things.

Are blazes and chorus fruit that much more difficult to farm than witches?
I never farm witches, lol. But yeah they are cause they require going to the Nether. And chorus fruits are not fully AFK-able. You have to manually place them. Plus I still think they clash too much with the build style since I am going for a medieval style. But I might use lantern or shroom lights.
I forgot about shroom and frog lights. I haven’t played in a while. Hiding lights behind banners is a good trick to hide them when they don’t fit the esthetic.
The rods might hide nicely behind the fence, but since you’re on survival it’d be quite the task to get enough.
