  • I have to disagree. This quote would be super shitty talking about microtransactions, but if this is about Peak, I dont believe they have any microtransactions in their game. Its the full price of the game. And honestly, if you have friends to play it with, $8 is a steal. Its nothing ground breaking or like world changing, but it’s a fun time-waster to spend time with people you like and accomplish a goal with decent replayability.

So sorry for your loss. You’re a stronger person than me. My dad passed when I was 16. Liver and kidney failure from alcolishm. We weren’t exactly close, and I cant say i liked him at the time, but he was still my dad. I couldn’t handle being there in the end. The sounds like you describe them were too much. I never had grief nightmares, but i also haven’t had vivid dreams since i was like 10. I did have a few panic / anxiety attacks in the years immediately after, but they stopped pretty quick. I’m about to turn 30, and I promise you, every day gets a little easier. I’m sure your therapist is a better resource, but you ever want to talk to an anonymous stranger, my DMs are open.

  • Kinda depends on what you want to do with either, as that’s a pretty general question. I’m a software engineer primarily full stack web development, and my brother is a day trader, mainly dealing with forex and futures.

If you want to make money, trading probably has a more immediate return, but is a lot more risky, and kinda needs a bit of capital to start. Where as coding might be harder to find “work”, but will probably be more stable income once you find a work stream.

Coding has an immensely large amount of different things you can do. It’s a generically good tool for problem solving, and it’s always good to understand more about how our ever technologically growing world works.

It’s also very important to know how you think. From my experience, people who enjoy math and logic puzzles also enjoy coding. But people who enjoyed other subjects in school like chemistry or literature might not find the way of thinking that coding takes to be very enjoyable.

  • Ireland, hands down. I’ve been twice, and both times I’ve been absolutely enamored with the country. I’m from the Midwest, so a lot of it is probabky just the differences and the fact I’m on vacation. But the castles and walkabke cities, and rolling hills, and so much green instead of brown or yellow! I’m also a fantasy nerd, so I’m a sucker for anything that can have a medieval spin.

  • Great points! Sorry for any confusion. So with my current personal script, I just went in and assessed and assigned prices to everything. When I generate the shop, I take that price, add anything relevant (like armor or weapons price because i had base types for things like +1 armor), and then assign it a random value between 0.75 * base to 1.25 * base.

I agree, the prices would still be very arbitrary and based solely on my opinions. I would like to explore options on getting feedback or even allowing individual “overrides”, but that would require like user accounts and stuff that I don’t want to manage and most people don’t want to make.

I hoped to help that with a sliding scale that would be a UI slider, so you could scale it to your world’s magic item prices. So say in your world a potion of healing is 5 gold, or maybe its 500 gold. The slider would scale all the prices. Like for instance, base price of a potion of Healing is 50 gp. So if you put it down to 10 gp, everything is reduced down to 20% base price.
