I have the first edition but I’m sure the forms are similar.
Reddit has more of everything, good and bad.
The community will determine if the good outweighs the bad.
I would say a trusted community for discussion and knowledge on Reddit would be r/woodworking. That community is very helpful and stays on topic. Many hobby communities are like this so long as the mods do a good job.
Then you have all the major political and cultural communities that I consider places to stay away from.
While a lot of the discussion may be accurate the methods people use to convey them can be dogmatic.

Have you tried craft or hobby stores.
If there’s a fabric section of a store they might carry these. I believe this style was originally used for cutting fabrics.
Usually, we seem to call ones that cut softer material scissors. “Craft scissors” “hairdresser scissors”
If it cuts material that’s more substantial, we’ll call them shears.
“Kitchen shears” “garden shears” “metal shears”
Perhaps you can replace the nut?
You’re right, now that I think about it, I also have a garden basket and watering can that’s also Fiskars.
People also praise their splitting axes. Apparently they have a really good warranty.
No actually you want the cutting edge to be on the same side as the stiches. When you create a sheath for tools with an edge, you insert a welt, a strip of leather that sits in the middle. The edge then touches the welt and not the stitches on the inside. It’s possible to cut through but it’s not likely.
Here is an example of me inserting a welt.

The last image in the post is an example of a welt. When it’s all glued together you then stitch through all the layers.
The mistake I made was creating a sheath that I didn’t like and instead of recreating it from stratch I reprofiled the design. This was basically just making the oringal smaller. When I did this and tried to restitch, my pricking chisels wouldn’t stay straight. So the exit stitch line was very wavy. This can happen if the leather is very thick or very soft.
That’s why, in the photo, you only see stitches at the begining and end of the sheath. It’s all glued and this type of sheath wont expereince any forces that will make it fall apart. If it does I can just make another one.
Here’s the post.
Sure :) I’ll make a post
That’s the name we use in the US for kitchen scissors.
Thank you and you’re welcome! I’m glad I can inspire others in this craft. :)
