The beginning of the movie takes forever to go anywhere. However, when the movie gets going, Damn is it ever an engrossing one. The acting and better than expected effects helped elevated the really solid writing.
In a post-apocalyptic world, a woman cares for her brother-in-law when he becomes infected with the plague that has decimated the population. A sluggish, low-budget effort that generates a decent atmosphere of foreboding in its early scenes, but goes downhill fast when the action becomes largely confined to one basement. The vacillating of the character played by Kate Flanagan grows increasingly infuriating.
#Antidote is definitely not the best zombie movie out there but it's still good for what it was I think what could've made this movie better is if they extended the runtime further because 79 minutes is way too short for a movie but this movie is still good for what it was.
10 minutes of movie in 79 minutes of film
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I saw #AntidoteMovie back in 2017 during my second annual #31DaysOfHorror and back then I thought it was a decent movie so I decided to revisit this movie to see if it's still a decent watch so is that the case?
So this wound up being a tad bit worse than the first time I saw it not saying the movie is awful but it's very average at best the main problem that I have with this movie is how it was marketed as a zombie movie and it looked like it was going to have plenty of zombies but SPOILER ALERT there are no zombies in this movie you only ever see two zombies and you see them towards…
Movie 125: Antidote - 4/10. The setting and acting are both really good, but they set up a story that stalls out rather quickly and ends in an unsatisfactory way.
I think I get what the film was going for - a sort of dark intimate story of a woman letting go in this horrible future. There have been other films that tackled the concept leagues better, 'It comes at Night' being the main one that this reminded me of. There wasn't enough substance to make this movie enjoyable, the characters were boring and there wasn't enough world building to make the drama resonate. Also, the main girl made all the wrong decisions.
Jade's Review: 1/2 Star. I realise the movie didn't have the budget or know-how to do disease building correctly, so they went vague, and in-the-dark, but the general treatment of the symptoms was distressingly bad. That wasn't…
In yet another low budgeted(at $100,000),small cast containing post-zombie apocalypse set zombie yarn,a young couple([the Rooney Mara looking] Kathleen Wise[4 NIGHTS IN THE HAMPTONS,BELLA VISTA],Michael Izquierdo[11.22.63,TAKING WOODSTOCK]) endlessly wander through what is left of the plague stricken world that has let very few survivors as they soon settle upon a seemingly abandoned house, where Izquierdo immediately develop the symptoms of the zombie plague as he slowly deteriorates(complete with half of his flesh melting) and goers into mid-zombie transformation as both the house's returning owner(Matthew Rauch[GIRLS AGAINST BOYS,NO RESERVATIONS]) and a wandering female zombie(Kate Flanagan[THE LETTER,IRRATIONAL MAN]) enter into the scenario and things begin to get increasingly worse. Despite being well acted by the small cast, well directed, and sporting decent make-up effects by…
