Batman in 2008: "Sometimes the truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded..."
Batman in 1966: "Bon Voyage, Pussy."
"They may be drinkers, Robin, but they're still human beings."
Why I love this film so much:
- The Bat Copter!
- Bitch-slapping an exploding shark
- Dodgy Irish accented cop
- 'That' theme tune
- The Bat Boat!
- The nobility of a suicidal porpoise (!)
- A ball point banana
- Jet-pack umbrellas
- "Bless my dust pan!" & "Holy Halloween!"
- 'Dehydrated' pirates.
- "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
- 'Re-hydrated' pirates
- The Bat Cycle!
- Cat in a dinghy
- Umbrella/sword duel atop a submarine
- Bat Centrifuge!
- Bat ropes!
In summary: Forget Nolan's films; watch this instead.
The first movie my daughter ever watched with me, and the first she's ever watched period. I turned it on because she's really into Batman lately, figuring we'd get through 20 minutes and she'd be off to something else. Instead, she sat next to me for the entire movie, and except for a couple of the Miss Kitka scenes (which kinda bore me too, to be honest) she was transfixed. When it was over she only had one comment: "More." Now we're watching the beginning again. Chip off the old block, this kid is.
they didnt need to make any more superhero movies after this one, this about covered it all
This is the only Batman movie that makes any goddamn sense.
Cinema peaked with the Shark Repellent Bat Spray
Batman takes on four of his arch-enemies at once! One of the silliest, campiest live-action films one can find is also the first live-action non-independently-produced superhero film - 1966's Batman. I don't think I've seen this one for 30 years and honestly I think I had forgotten that I had seen it in my youth, confusing this film with the television series that followed with the same actors and costumes. In watching it, however, I recalled the best memories of this one from seeing it in my youth, and how I certainly thought it as my favorite movie in my earliest years in life, even if I didn't know it was a movie. Containing some of the corniest moments in…
reject modernity (riddler in a gimp mask and normal clothes) embrace tradition (riddler in a lime green three-piece suit with question marks all over it)
fucked up that we live in a society where the dark knight is considered the best batman movie when this exists. WAKE UP SHEEPLE
