Sunil Bannerjee’s romantic musical comedy in which the son (Uttam Kumar) of a rich entrepreneur seeks to be a singer in contradiction of the desires of his father. In Bengali with English subtitles.
The story concerns Prasanta (Uttam Kumar), the son of a wealthy industrialist, who aims to become a well-known singer. However, when he departs for Kolkata to achieve his ambitions, he falls in love with Sucharita (Tanuja).
Uttam Kumar gives a very good performance in his role as Prasanta, the man whose dreams to become a famous singer take a turn when he encounters Sucharita, but is still determined to achieve his goal. He suits his role well.
Elsewhere, there is a fine performance to be had from…
Ideal rom com
Lovely film and I'd go so far to say that Uttam Kumar is undoubtedly one of the most natural actors I've ever seen in the WORLD.
one look at uttam kumar in this film and you know why he’s the GOAT
only hridoyhoron can fix me now
Fam was watching and joined 2nd half and they filled me in. Surprised by how well the overall acting and feel was for a movie so old and Bengali not even Indian, 8 years before independence. Really felt transported back in time and movie reminded me of how important the arts are to Bengali people, even in 1963.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie.
Everytime i watch it, i fall in love all over again, bye.
Deya Neya is one of the greatest musical-comedy films of cinema history. With Uttam Kumar's brilliant acting, the film shows the romanticism of love while mixing it with pure, refreshing comedy, family issues, and a cold-hearted, passive antagonist in one happy-pack. BK Roy (Kamal Mitra) reminds me of nurse Ratched by his cruel, tyrant character. Some great Bangla songs came out of this film.
Deya Neya is more like a tribute to Music. It breaks the perception that Music can't be taken a professional career. Also, it highlights the behind-the-scenes struggles. The cherry on top is the classic rom-com story. The rewatch value of this film is infinite.
The visuals in this are insaneeeee bro
A cinema is full of wonderful music. Shyamal Mitra, Sandhya Mukhopaddhay, Manabendra Mukhopaddhay, and Arati Mukherjee all legends sang in this cinema. What else to write about Uttam Kumar. I first time watched Tanuja, lively acting.
Sunil Bandyopadhyay used good techniques to make this cinema. Perfect comedy timing and romance, a good combo of Bengali commercial classic.
