when they were sword fighting and she was about to like decapitate him and he was like "mashallah....heart eyes emoji".....yeah <3
sword fighting is so KINKY and the slow burn political alliance/arranged marriage to lovers trope is executed to perfection. the best three and a half hours of my life feature hrithik roshan and aishwarya rai.
yeah this film is my favourite bollywood film ever, my favourite romance and love story of all time and probably one of my favourite films ever made overall. everyone please watch this.
My favourite flavour of anachronistic nationalism. The romance and drama converge to tell one coherent and deliberate story about: Tolerance! Diversity! Unity! Cooperation! Mutual respect! Secularism! Empathy! Sweat dripping down Hrithik Roshan's back! Elephant crushing!
Guys are like I'll take you to dinner 😒😴...call me when we can have a swordfight in the courtyard of my ancestral home 💅
nooo don’t make me marry you to bring peace to both our empires you’re so sexy aha
Jodhaa Akbar is now on Netflix. If you are unfamiliar with Bollywood historical epics you'll not find a better place to start.
One problem I have is that like many other Indian medieval period films, Jodhaa Akbar (without ill intention) furthers the false narrative that Urdu is the language of Muslims and Hindi of Hindus, it is a very ignorant understanding of North India's linguistic history. What is slightly more amusing is that nobody, definitely not Akbar and his predecessors, spoke Urdu. It is a much newer language. Anyway, this scratches my itch for Mughal history-based movies 🍿 +1 star for its relative accuracy. Hrithik is quite good and the music is great.
