Nick: You almost killed me! You're a monster!
*she puts her hair down and changes clothes*
Nick: I mean you're actually kind of hot so maybe you're not so bad
crime and punishment in youth mania and on impulsive dramaturgical steroids. the thrust is too conciliatory but in huge parts it tries to be decently grown up.
Low fantasy as mall goth wish-fulfillment. Obviously, I hate it, but I also kind of love it. Pretentious rich dweeb goads lower-class girl into beating him within an inch of his life and then assumes a ghostly form to convince her to die so that he can come back to life. Dweeb ends up totally fine with some perspective or something.
I adored this movie when I was around 12 or 13, and even if I never did have an emo phase, it makes sense when you watch it back. Sometimes you just need nostalgia closure, you know?
I braced for this to be awful, but I'm actually still really fond of it, though more cognizant of its flaws. It's kind of slow and low energy, and also very melodramatic. The main character is mired in pretentious teen angst, and that isn't helped by Justin Chatwin being a sub-par actor. I do think Margarita Levieva is really solid though, the arc she goes through does more for the movie than the actual focal point of a kinda-ghost. It's also not a…
As a result of a misunderstanding, high school golden boy Nick is attacked by Annie and her gang, and his body dumped in a storm drain. But he is not completely dead. Meanwhile, we see him walking around the school, and nobody is able to see or hear him. Except for Annie - the person who dealt the final blow. She is the only one who can help Nick before his undiscovered body dies completely. But she has some serious issues of her own.
The Invisible is a remake of a Swedish film, which was in turn based on a novel. It's a kind of ghost story, but with less focus on scares, and more on character development and interaction.…
whoever decided on the needle drops for the movie needs a raise and i hope they are having a beautiful and fulfilling life
my rating is nostalgia based, my sister and i used to rent this from the local video store often and it’s always stuck with me for some reason. it’s not even something i’d try to watch these days. i think of it fondly because of a time in my life. i miss the 00s a lot lately. but i’ll stand by the fact that although it’s messy and melodramatic the story is still pretty solid and all of the issues i might take with it can be forgiven by the death cab song playing mid film.
remember, kids! your murderer is redeemable because she's pretty when she takes her beanie off
Pretty good tbh
Reminded me of that one South Park episode where everyone is ignoring Cartman because he ate all the skin of the fried chicken so he starts believing he is dead and stuck in purgatory and Butters is the only one who can help him get into heaven.
enemies to lovers: extreme edition
"Does that give you an excuse... does that make it okay... well don't think of blaming anybody but yourself!" - Nick Powell,
"Emo" was a mistake.
Grrr... there are moments of bad movie brilliance here but mostly, for me, it's just kind of slow and boring. I hate shitting on actors but Justin Chatwin doesn't feel like a leading man to me but instead a journeyman character actor, and Margarita Levieva was simply not right for her role. I kind of liked the overall premise of the story but the execution left a lot to be desired.
Not for me.
I am the biggest fan of this movie.
