An orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot sets off in search of the legendary Great Valley. A land of lush vegetation where the dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace. Along the way he meets four other young dinosaurs, each one a different species, and they encounter several obstacles as they learn to work together in order to survive.

Nostalgia in full effect!
The tale of a group of young prehistoric creatures on a long, dangerous journey to a safe haven (The Great Valley) is just as engaging, touching and entertaining as it was when I saw it as a kid.
Don Bluth and his team did an excellent job on the animation that still holds up to this day. The same goes for the late James Horner's great music score. I felt like a kid again; memories of watching this movie on VHS over and over popping up in head.
Yes...I'll admit I got teary eyed when "We'll Hold on Together " played at the end. That song has that effect on me.

*As for the sequels, I've only watched up to 4. They're good as well. I'm surprised to hear the series is still going on!
I can’t believe a story so emotionally scarring to my childhood is contained in a movie that is just over an hour long.

As grown man, attempting to apply a star rating to The Land Before Time makes about as much sense as a 6 year old attempting to apply a star rating to Last Tango in Paris.
There was a time when this movie was made for me, but that was long ago. Now, the story is paper thin and the emotional moments are ˈo͞obər manipulative (and admittedly somewhat effective.)

Don Bluths The Land Before Time, a movie that came before my time but I am super familiar with some of the follow up movies and tv series. So I don’t think I’ve ever seen this original movie, I was surprised to see George Lucas and Spielberg as two of the exec producers, what an all star team involved in this project.
Theres some really good emotional depth to the piece, tackling heavy themes involving grief and loss and what it means to make your own family. The lessons learnt can be carried throughout life making it extremely relatable to all ages.
