I remember when I was a kid watching bits of the sequel to this movie, which I kept confusing with the ending to the sequel to Shaft with Samuel L. Jackson. Until now, I had only heard of this movie through the memes.

And well, it doesn't take long for one to realize why this has become a classic. You got some stoner humor mixed with the "hood" genre, as well as a few instances of gross-out humor mostly delivered by Witherspoon in his "throne". Seeing Regina King's journey from this to now being an award-winning actress was also fascinating, despite her being completely underuse. With his rude boy moments, Ice Cube makes for a very charming protagonist; it is a personality he would later develop and almost become his own personal trademark. Chris Tucker is delirious in this movie, just his quirky personality and voice, in my opinion, makes the movie special, and I wish he was in more movies as a whole. Gray elevates a material filled with classic moments through great direction, kinetic camera work, and good staging.

All in all, this is an engaging movie from start to finish, with an often funny script, some legit awesome performances and a good soundtrack.
