Russell C. Albanese
Chairman
The Albanese Organization
Russell Albanese has more than 40 years of experience in real estate development, construction and management. He is chairman of the Albanese Organization, which was co-founded by his father, Anthony, and uncle, Vincent, more than 75 years ago. Based in Garden City, the firm is dedicated to creating exceptional living and working environments that provide excellent value over the long term. The company has collaborated successfully with private and public partners to create numerous innovative and transformative developments on Long Island, and in New York City and the greater metropolitan area.
For the past decade, Albanese and his partner, Christopher Albanese, have placed substantial focus on addressing the severe shortage of affordable housing. The firm is serving as master developer of Wyandanch Rising for the Town of Babylon and has completed hundreds of affordable and workforce apartments. The company has also long been recognized as one of the leading developers to advance sustainable building practices; its development of the nation’s first two green high-rise residential towers in Battery Park City garnered the firm international acclaim.
Albanese has served on the boards of several organizations. Previously, he was a founding board member of the New York City chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. He also served on the boards of the New York Building Congress, the Long Island chapter of The Nature Conservancy, Sustainable Long Island and Long Island Youth For Christ. He currently serves on the boards of the Family Service League, ScholarSkills For Stars, Teachers College, Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts and the Wyandanch Plaza Association.
