PGL is a Romanian event organizer, studio, and video production company headquartered in Bucharest, Romania. PGL is best known for organizing esports events in
Dota 2 and
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In Dota 2, they gained a lot of popularity for the Valve-sponsored Manila Major in 2016. Since then, PGL has become a staple for Dota 2 tournaments, having organized the following two Valve Majors, Boston Major and Kiev Major. For the 2017/18 Dota Pro Circuit PGL hosted one Minor and will host two Majors, as well as organize the DAC 2018 together with Perfect World.
In 2021 after the restructuring of DPC due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PGL organized the regional leagues of Southeast Asia for Dota Pro Circuit 2021.[2] PGL also became the first tournament organizer to broadcast a Dota 2 tournament in 4K.[3]
In the same year, PGL also presented the first Dota 2 major since January 2020, ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021.[4][5]
Singapore Major - the first PGL offline event in pandemicHaving an on-site event during this period is a major accomplishment, and we're delighted to run this fantastic event which will set the stage for the best teams in the world. The DOTA 2 community deserves a top-notch tournament, and we want to assure everyone that we'll do our best to provide an amazing experience for the viewers. We will take all the measures needed to have a safe tournament in a healthy environment. We would also like to thank Singapore for having us, the only place where running such a large international tournament is possible!
In the beginning, the Singapore Major seemed like an impossible mission. But we, at PGL, know very well that the only limits out there are the ones that we set ourselves. So we worked night and day, and we made it! It was a challenge for us to run an event of such magnitude in the pandemic. With countries being closed for traveling every day, flights canceled every day, we had to put extra effort into bringing everyone here safely and finding ways to return everybody to their homes safely. But we are proud to say that the event was a success. The last 14 months represented a difficult period for every DOTA fan, and the feeling of an offline event is so good. There are things in life that you cannot buy, and if we managed to bring some joy into the hearts of players and fans, this means the world to us. We are already working on our following offline events set for 2021.

In 2022, PGL organized PGL Arlington Major 2022, the first major in the United States since The Boston Major 2016.[6]
Texas will host the first Major on American soil since Boston Major in 2016DOTA 2 has a lot of fans in the US, and Arlington has a perfect location for tournaments of this caliber: Esports Stadium. We are fortunate to be back in North America with another Major after Boston. We love to run events in the USA, and we have wonderful memories from 2016: it was a great tournament, and the fans were fantastic. Having a tremendous tournament with DOTA 2 enthusiasts in the stands after a long time will be great!
Silviu Stroie, PGL CEO
In 2023, PGL organized the regional leagues of Western Europe and North America for Dota Pro Circuit 2023.[7]
