Eugene "ABSTRACT" Eu (born January 13, 1995) is a Singaporean variety caster that excels in Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), First-Person Shooters (FPS), and Battle Royale (BR) genres. Commonly known as a Play-by-play commentator that focuses on the nuances of entertainment and broadcasting to bring a emotions to a show. He is commonly described as expressive, fast, and loud, breathing life and suspense into the most heated plays.

Biography[edit]

Eugene "ABSTRACT" Eu started his pursuit for esports in 2011, chasing the pipedream of being a professional player in Heroes of Newerth (HoN). It however, ended prematurely due to poor performance and has decided to pick up a microphone instead to find relevance within in esports industry in 2012. He scored a contract under Garena after a successful talent hunting event called "So you think you can Shoutcast?" during his days in HoN and continued honing his craft together with Jayf "Babael" Soh. Together with Babael, they started Epic Gaming Television (EGTV) with the vision of being an all-in-one esports organisation focusing on talents, events, and hosting. After a few years of operation, EGTV went into an indefinite hiatus and the pair parted ways in pursuit of their own goals within the esports industry.

ABSTRACT eventually branched out to new games, such as Overwatch during his tertiary education. Eventually as years go by, he has dabbled on multiple game titles and multiple genre within the local esports scene and eventually stumbled upon Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and Free Fire; where he caught his big break. He has appeared in the established local events such as the MLBB Professional League (MPL) and localised broadcast of the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) in 2021. Meanwhile, in the Free Fire scene, he has been appearing in the Malaysia-Cambodia-Philippines (MCP) region and European region for the big leagues, and even as a guest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and North America region. ABSTRACT has also found opportunity to be the official commentator of the Free Fire World Series Singapore and Free Fire World Series Sentosa, which were both hosted in his home country.

ABSTRACT is currently a Talent Development Trainer under Sin Esports, training more than a dozen of local-grown commentators; taking up the duty as a pioneer in the local esports scene to expand and educate the craft of esports commentary. He has worked with several local organisations as a mentor for the Events and Commentary Mentorship, ELEVATE, and Esports Academy Incubator: Esports Shoutcasting. His mentees are now currently out in the local field, working on various genres and game titles, honing their craft and building their experience after gaining the experience and knowledge that has been imparted onto them.
