I’ve internalized this kind of ableist garbage so much that listening at lower or higher speeds, even though that cuts down on anxiety so much, feels so shameful.

No-one’s saying “the best reading speed for a printed book is at the speed at which it was typed” except maybe 90s visual novels. The book is yours, read it however you wanna read it, listen to it however you wanna hear it.

I always use Audrey’s “Horses Are Honest” to test sound stuff like headphones or amps or speakers, not that it’s the most all-around or dense song, because it’s not, but if a sound system can’t play the drum break in Horses Are Honest in a way that breaks and heals my heart, what’s even the point?

Two of the songs from these guys’ list that I sometimes additionally use are “60 feet tall” and “The Rite of Spring” (the opening or sometimes the entire thing). I guess I’m sensitive to attack/decay issues because I have a bunch of the other songs they bring up but I’ve never tested with them the way I have with these aforementioned three. 🤷🏻‍♀️
