This video (made by the Approval voting guys, a rival to my preffered STAR voting) also shows clearly how IRV sucks.

Or rather, I thought it showed it clearly but judging from the YouTube comment thread below, people didn’t get it. “What’s the problem, the most popular party won” they say.

I advocate for STAR voting (as in, I’m unaffiliated with any origanization, I just tell people how I think it’s the best system) and it irks me when people say IRV is “a step in the right direction” or “better than nothing” as this page shows.

Although that second line I’m not sure I think should be green. “Underdog” candidates aren’t always heroes in a time like ours when the far right is so mobilized. STAR voting is the best in letting the electorate express themselves nuancedly and clearly, and letting those choices be reflected in the outcome, but… the electorate kinda sucks!
