Using this tactic, the researchers showed that there are large amounts of privately identifiable information (PII) in OpenAI’s large language models. They also showed that, on a public version of ChatGPT, the chatbot spit out large passages of text scraped verbatim from other places on the internet.

I’m hearing chatter that Grammarly has just admitted to using its users’ work to train an AI–without consent. That means it’s been stealing/scraping your work and writing, without compensation.If you use that particular service, you might want to look into that.

Me: Wow, I’ve finally found a great use for full automation with ChatGPT. It can turn these MLA citations into bibtex entries automatically! What a timesaver!ChatGPT: Converts to valid bibtex format, gets all the men’s names correct and everyone else’s wrong.Never mind.
