Post-Arcadion, the WoL has gathered a small but dedicated fanbase. Unlike the other Arcadion fighters, however, they seem to have no persona backstory. What sort of fan theory discourse exists about them? What sort of fanfiction, even?

Bonus for outsider pov’s, the WoL being a cryptid, and fandom discourse spilling over into Honey B Lovely’s streams.

Thancred grew up a homeless orphan on the streets of Limsa, at least until he was 14. Limsa seems to be a pretty rough town, operating on much more of a might-makes-right philosophy than any of the other Eorzean city-states. I imagine that once or twice, young!Thancred might have struck a bargain with someone wealthy and unscrupulous in exchange for food, money, or even just a roof over his head for the night.

Papalymo survives Shinryu (your choice if/how you address it), and therefore gets to participate in the events of Shadowbringers.

Either it comes up naturally, or Thancred is deliberately seeking advice - but the two of them have a conversation about what it’s like to lose someone you care about, and then not get a chance to grieve because the universe has suddenly decided you have to spend the next five years caring for a traumatized teenager who looks like her (almost) and acts like her (sometimes) and wants to carry on her legacy (but doesn’t know how). And also how it sucks to be trying to mourn the woman you lost, but also stuck calling this kid by her name and trying to put on enough of a front to be a good parental figure, despite the fact that the world is also ending at the same time and you have to take up arms and fight against that, and also ask the kid to do the same, even though these are battles that no one her age should ever be fighting in.

You know, somewhere in between 1.0 and ARR, someone must have gone and told the Leveilleur household about Louisoix’ passing, and Urianger seems like he might have been close enough to be the one to do so. Let’s have some angst.

Ideas:

  • Forchenault filled with repressed grief, anger and resentment, definitely not helping Urianger

  • Little Alisae and Alphinaud storming in, greeting Urianger and asking news, clever enough to realize something bad has happened

  • The irony that as far as anyone knows at this stage, Louisoix died in vain, since the Phoenix thing is not known.

  • Ameliance there to be help, but focused on her own family

  • Moenbryda to be there for support afterwards?

My deep, dark desire… is to see the scions in a affectionate dogpile. Maybe it’s after something traumatic and they need to be touching someone, maybe it’s cold and they’re trapped somewhere, maybe they’re all sharing an inn room to save money.

Only preferences are that Alisaie and Alphinaud not be involved in any romantic relationships, if that’s the route you go. Otherwise, choice of ships or whether they’re a polycule is up to you.

Basically, what I’m looking for is Fourchenault barking up completely the wrong tree and cutting the twins off from a potential mentor/ally/friend, while also denying Thancred any semblance of healthy family ties for his entire adolescence. Up to you whether you want to keep it in the pre-canon era, or explore the fallout during or after Endwalker, when it becomes clear that despite Fourchenault’s best efforts, the twins did in fact make friends with the retching sound Lominsan lowlife. Also up to you whether Fourchenault and Thancred ever reconcile to any degree, or if Fourchenault is still cold and mistrustful even after Thancred literally sacrifices his own life to protect the twins (and the rest of the gang) in Ultima Thule. Also also up to you what Ameliance or Louisoix think about this situation, or if they even know that it’s going on.

Gaius and Cid have an awkward family dinner. They’re both most of the family each other has left and are carefully trying to reconnect. Allie might also be there.

Part way through Nero arrives, he’s halfway through complaining to Cid about something when he notices Gaius. Things get even weirder.

Background CidNero is optional, but it WOULD be very funny.

Ok so you remember that catgirl in the Brotherhood of Ash whose mom got tempered?

And remember how the Scions found a cure for tempering? And then Ga Bu got de-tempered, and then the last dungeon in Shadowbringers was in Amalj’aa territory?

Someone pls rectify Squeenix’s HUGE oversight, and let Loonh Gah reunite with her mother.

How common is the whole “job stone” system in this world? The Convocation used to use it to pass down memories to successors but do any modern-day world leaders do this? What about to pass along secrets?

Putting the “kink” in “kinkmeme”, is there such a thing as a Sex Worker Job Stone containing debauched skills and suchlike?

This isn’t exactly porn so I’m not sure if it will actually comply with the rules of the kinkmeme but it is sex related, so… well, anyway, delete it if it isn’t ok

Gaius is such a dad. And loves his (adopted) son so much, and dotes on him, and has given him many useful life advices. Cid is hitting That Age and Gaius is sure Midas hasn’t given (and won’t be giving, knowing how little he’s at home) young Cid The Talk about, well, Sex Education. So he sits Cid down, and they talk about sex, masturbation, consent, preferences, etc. Gaius loves giving long speeches, and Cid loves learning new things. No incest, no underage. Just wholesome dad-son talk.

Unfortunately when the Crystal Exarch brought the Warrior of Light to Norvrandt, he didn’t provide any travel vaccines and once the WoL is no longer full of the horrible Light Aether they catch every disease and must be lovingly tended to.

(the Scions’ bodies are still at home so they’re fine, Souls can’t catch malaria or whatever)

Would love basically anything with these two gradually becoming friends (and possibly lovers) during the hundred years between G’raha’s arrival on the First and the events of ShB. Feel free to stop before ShB starts, to ignore or lean into the events of 5.3 as what we know will happen with these two, or to AU the fuck out of everything.

Louisoix is the main reason most of Eorzea is not a smoking crater in the ground post-Calamity. He is one of the most respected and beloved figures in recent history. Forchenault does not remember his father fondly, and despairs of the man’s influence on his children. He clearly struggles to express his care for the twins - and his concern for their safety - in constructive ways, what with all the secrets and the coming to Eorzea to argue with them about their ideals and then “disown” them about it, which tracks with his rather strained relationship with his own father.

Please envision the Warriors of Darkness, newly brought to the Source after the Flood of Light meant they were in a situation where their only hope is an ascian offering to help them via ritual suicide. They know Cylva was a traitor. Everyone they knew is probably going to die, and soon. They trust Elidibus as far as they can throw him, and as far as they know, Urianger is his loyal lackey.

Craving virtually about these two as platonic partners who can bond over both being gay. Bonus for complicated Ishgardian social dynamics and expectations. No depictions of violent homophobia please (though mild discussion is okay) but otherwise go nuts. If you wanna include shipping I’m partial to Estimeric but it’s not necessary!

One day, Estinien brings himself to ask Vrtra who Nidhogg was before being consumed by rage and grief. Vrtra tells stories.

Optional: Vrtra doubts whether he should weave dragonsong for Nidhogg under the circumstances–the person his brother became feels like a stranger. In the end, Estinien lends his voice quietly with all mixed feelings attached and they sing together.

Miqo’te don’t lick themselves clean like cats do, but grooming is a common form of bonding between them nonetheless. Y’shtola was used to her father using a bit of spit on one thumb to wipe grime from misadventures away, her mother scrubbing her clean (with much protestation) as a young child of the Y tribe. When Y’mhitra helps care for Y’shtola following the loss of her sight, the Scion finds comfort in how her sister brushes her hair.

Basically, I’d love a story about Y’shtola that emphasizes her as a miqo’te with family and how that part of her didn’t vanish when she trained under Master Matoya or joined the Scions.
