This might be where the Light Phone III’s screen came from.

🤷🏻‍♀️

How Light Os was made.

You might think that React Native is a strange choice for a native platform embedded into a firmware development project: we did too!

Then at the end of the same section:

I’m stoked that homebrew apps are starting to come for Light Phone III, like someone made this QR collection app.

They require hacks to install, it’s not sideloading friendly.

It’s not clear if it’s possible to have only some categories of events have alerts (org-icalendar-alarm-time) and some not.

For example it would be awesome if appointments could have a 2 hour alert by default while “scheduled” and “deadline” items do not have an alert but are still visible in the phone’s calendar agenda. (As a workaround it’s probably possible to exclude them from the CalDAV export entirely.)

Neat hacks (and it sucks that Light are trying to stop these hacks).

But it can have all the hacks in the world and it’s still no good if it triggers brain issues. Yeah, yeah, I’m pretty sure my current Nokia 8210 4g is just as bad in that regard. But I’m sick of blacking out this often.

NYT has a negative review of LP3.

Or it’s more a negative review of the gym and the taxi service and garage door.

It’s a program for watching when macOS switches to dark mode. Useful for making your text editor switch to a dark theme. Includes a Neovim (Lua) plugin to do exactly that.

Wow, Andrew’s photos look good! So with some skill it can take good pictures.

“WhatsApp”, “Beeper”—I honestly think this phone is going to be worse if those are available, even just optionally installable because people will try to pressure you to get accounts for those poisonous networks. They do much much much more harm than good. We could have an open standard or personally I don’t “need” anything because I don’t need my main inbox in my pocket most of the time but I get that some people do but it should be an open standard like PGP SMTP, OMEMO XMPP, or even ircs or Matrix. Or a mostly-closed-but-slightly-ajar protocol like RCS or Signal. But who am I kidding. It’s an anti-FOSS phone, fundamentally.

But in that review the camera photos look okay! That was all in Briones’ review.

More LP3 reviews coming in.

The camera is only 20 MP?!?!???! 😰
Wow, those pictures are not good.
I thought the whole point of this model was that it was a camera that you could call with.

The Verge.

The Light Phone III doesn’t take great pictures … The camera is meant more for scanning receipts than shooting weddings, and the photos and videos look like it.

😰 This was the saddest part of this review.

It wasn’t made to hook us and mess with us, but since, uh, mistakes were made, that’s what ended up happening.

Our best hope is to iterate, to notice these behaviors and try to fix them with better design. Designing for convenience has backfired and created addiction. But so has designing with deliberate hoops and obstacles.

This is what I want to do.

If that works on Light Phone III, that’s the solution for me here.

Not so sure about this anymore.

I’ve been a pretty extreme user of redshift for the past fifteen years and lately I’ve been developing a li’l bit of aqcuired tritanomaly later in life. We were playing 1889 and I could not tell apart the blue and green action trains.
