As I’ve said before, while I found the trilemma argument for the sim hypothesis so unconvincing (if we assume the premises are true, which they aren’t necessarily, my intuition would be that the “advanced-enough civs are super rare” branch just feels way likelier than the other), the more I learn about math and physics the more everything starts to look like performance hacks.

To the point that I’m catching myself in double think. Like when I was watching this video about whether quantum particle systems are disambiguated by classical gravitational constraints (as per Oppenheim or Diósi–Penrose) or if gravity really is quantized (strings, membranes, loops, QGEM).
