Erin Lee Carr is a two-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker whose most recent project, the scripted limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family, has become a breakout global success. Co-created and executive produced alongside Michael D. Fuller and Nick Antosca for UCP and based on the hit podcast "Murdaugh Murders" by Mandy Matney, the series stars Patricia Arquette and Jason Clarke. Premiering October 15, it quickly climbed to the #1 position on Hulu in the U.S. and reached #1 globally on Disney+, with sustained Top 10 performance across more than fifty countries. Erin directed Episode 105 of the series, solidifying her reputation as a filmmaker capable of delivering both prestige storytelling and major audience engagement.
With more than ten films and series to her name, Erin is also known for her powerful, often hard-hitting documentary work. Her notable projects include Mommy Dead and Dearest for HBO; At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal and I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth v. Michelle Carter for HBO; Britney vs. Spears for Netflix; The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring for HBO; and Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara for Hulu.
In 2024, Erin produced Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini for Hulu, directed by Michael Beach Nichols, as well as Stormy for Peacock, directed by Sarah Gibson and executive produced by Judd Apatow.
Outside of her screen work, Erin is the author of All That You Leave Behind, a memoir about her relationship with her father, renowned journalist David Carr, published by Ballantine Books/Random House.
