Born as Steve Borden, Sting has held the WCW World Title 10 times and multiple other titles. He has been the only wrestler to stay in WCW since the late 1980s and he had a reconstructive knee surgery in 1991. Steve was also the only wrestler from WCW who never worked for WWE until 2014 when he made his WWE debut at the Survivor Series. Sting rivals WCW names like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in working for three major North American wrestling promotions including WCW, TNA and WWE. Sting spent 13 years wrestling for WCW from 1988 until its final year in 2001 when it was bought out by WWE. Sting then joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA/later renamed Impact Wrestling in 2017) in 2003. He returned to wrestle full-time in TNA in 2006 and left in 2014. After making his WWE debut in 2014, Sting embarked on a rivalry with Triple H and the heel stable known as The Authority. Sting's feud with The Authority ended at WrestleMania 31 in a match against Triple H. In late 2020, Borden signed with AEW, making his first appearance at Dynamite: Winter Is Coming, subsequently coming out of retirement where he had his first match in over five years at the promotion's pay-per-view, Revolution, on March 7, 2021, a tag team victory with partner Darby Allin. After a 30-year career, Sting wrestled his last match at AEW Revolution on March 3, 2024, retiring both as an undefeated tag team with Darby Allin and as champion. Over the course of his career, Sting held a total of 10 titles and is a Hall of Fame inductee in 2 promotions including TNA Wrestling and WWE.
