    At 24-years old Janet Stewart was a first class passenger on board the last voyage of the Italian liner Andrea Doria when it was in collision with the Swedish liner Stockholm on July 25, 1956 and sank the next day. Stewart was traveling with her friend and fellow actress Ruth Roman. The pair had met when filming Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train in 1951.
