David Lyle
David Lyle began his career as a geologist and high school chemistry teacher. He would later move into to television as a writer and producer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the Network Ten.

While at Network Ten, Lyle became the host of the weekly "Golden Years Of Television" the the 1980s. He also had a regular movie and television quiz column in a Sunday newspaper, where the weekly winners would receive a movie video from the Bill Collins Movie Collection.

Lyle changed networks, joining the Nine Network as an executive. While at Nine, Lyle worked on program development and acquisitions, developing local adaptations of international franchises such as "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire".

He left Nine to join the production company Pearson Television in the United Kingdom.

In 2001, Lyle moved to Los Angeles, California in the USA as head of FremantleMedia North America, launching "American Idol" for the Fox network.

He moved on to head the cable channels Fox Reality and Nat Geo Wild.

Lyle also served as president of Pact US.home. He is survived by his wife Janne and children Sam, Polly and Joanna.
