Ismail El Habrouk was a multi-talented Egyptian artist who excelled in several fields, including zajal (folk poetry), poetry, and songwriting. He wrote over 200 songs and poems, composing lyrics for some of the most famous singers of his time, such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Fayzah Ahmad, Farid El-Atrash and Muharram Fuad. He also wrote stories and novels, some of which were adapted into films.
El Habrouk began his career as a journalist during his university studies until he obtained a law degree from Alexandria University in 1948. He continued working at Rosa Al-Youssef magazine after graduating and later progressed through various journalistic institutions. He worked at Al-Geel Al-Gadeed magazine and Al-Ahram newspaper before becoming editor-in-chief of Al-Shaab newspaper. In 1959, he was also appointed editor-in-chief of Al-Gomhuria newspaper.
