P Virumandi is from a small village called 'Karumathur' near Usilampatti in Madurai district and now settled in Chennai. He is the eldest son of actor Periya Karuppu Thevar. He was worked as Assistant Director for 12 years with Director Selva from 'Manikanda' to 'Nan Avan Illai'. And worked as a Co-Director in Gopi Nainar's 'Aramm'.
