Arta Negahban is a Persian-Canadian actor based in Montreal, best known for her recurring role as Laila Zahrani in Hulu's limited series Under the Bridge, which tells the true story of the 1997 murder of Reena Virk.
She began her formal acting training at Tri-Cities Film Studio under the mentorship of Lisa Durupt, Toby Levins and Lane Edwards. Along with screen credits in short films and commercials, Arta made her debut television appearance in the Netflix series The Baby-Sitters Club.
Her background in the performing arts began through competitive dance, training extensively in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, and modern at Tri City Dance Centre where she was recognized for her stage presence and versatility. Throughout her teen years Arta trained in the Professional Training Program dedicating over 30 hours a week to dance, acting, and vocal training while maintaining her academic studies. This early foundation naturally led her to the stage, where she has performed in various musical theatre productions. Some of her favorite credits include Billy Elliot (Arts Club Theatre), Mamma Mia (Theatre Under the Stars) and Fiddler On The Roof (Royal City Musical Theatre).
Now based in Montreal Arta remains committed to performance and storytelling, with a growing interest in both sides of the camera. Her dedication to the arts is unwavering, and she's excited for what lies ahead!
