Songwriter, music producer, and musician Chris Butler was born on May 22, 1949. Butler grew up in Akron, Cleveland, and Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Chris majored in sociology at Kent State University and was one of the students fired upon by the Ohio National Guard at the infamous Kent State mass protest incident that occurred on May 4, 1970. An active member of the art and music scene in Kent, Ohio, Butler appeared in several movies made by Kent State University film professor Richard Myers and played guitar in the blues band City Lights as well as played bass in the blues group the Numbers Band from 1975 to 1978. Chris formed the New Wave band The Waitresses in 1978. The Waitresses recorded two albums and two EPs as well as had cult hits with the songs "I Know What Boys Like" and "Christmas Wrapping" before breaking up in 1984. Moreover, Butler has also worked as a producer for such artists as Sort Sol and Freedy Johnston, started the label Future Fossil Records, and released the solo album "I Feel a Bit Normal Today" in 1997. In addition, his 69-minute song "The Devil Glitch" was cited in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest pop song recording in history.
