His musical career has been wide-ranging, from composing hours of music for New Zealand's prestigious World of Wearable Art design competition to improvising with the late Robin Williams to creating sound designs for The New Zealand Opera. His background in music improvisation and composing for theatre lead him naturally to music editing, given his life-long passion for using music to accompany, assist, enhance and elevate storytelling.
Screen composing credits include an episode of the hit Australian animated series Bluey (titled 'Neighbours'), and award winning NZ documentaries Love Speed and Loss and The Nuclear Comeback. Most recently he composed for the Lucy Lawless directed feature documentary 'Never Look Away' which premiered to acclaim at Sundance 2024. He has written several stage musicals including Infectious, Gays in Space, and L.G.B.T.C.S.I., co-writing the books as well as writing all lyrics and music.
Jason's experience over a broad range of projects speaks to his strong emotional intuition, a very keen sense of tone, and his ability to adapt to the unique needs of each production. He has a great sense of humour which makes him well suited to comedy as well as dramatic work.
