Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Davy spent much of his youth reading comic books, playing table-top fantasy games, and watching horror movies. He also played guitar with local Punk bands, performed with various Sketch Improv groups, and shot short films with a home camera. After being expelled from four different High Schools, he passed the GED and supported himself working odd jobs in production. Davy eventually attended the Playhouse West Repertory School and landed some minor roles on stage and screen.
After teaching drama at the Los Angeles Music & Arts School and moving up the production ranks, Davy worked in Creative Development at ABC Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions. In 2013, Davy Perez was selected for a NALIP/HBO Latino Writer Fellowship. The following year he was a participant in the 2014 Disney ABC Writing Program. In 2018 he was the recipient of a Time Warner film grant for his short film Protest. A multi-faceted autodidact, Davy's extensive hands-on experience and varied skill set have proven to be a valuable asset in his creative endeavors.
