I still watch it year after year. Its one of the multiple post Jaws creature movies made in the late '70's, like Grizzly, but I know what I am getting when I watch it. Bad acting, blood and a monster killing lots of people. What else could you want in a movie? Once. Year I watch Night of the Grizzle, Grizzly, Moon of the Wolf, and this movie. If you like any of the former, you will love this movie also. A couple of big name stars are in these movie, ( including Clint Walker from Night of the Grizzly fame), they may of just needed a check this year. Is this an oscor movie, no, but sometimes a simple plot movie is just want you want on a raining Saturday afternoon.
I wonder about the ages of some of the reviewers here who pan "Snowbeast". Are they cynical, teen-aged movie-goers, raised on the "Saw" movies and "Van Helsing"-style monster effects? Have you got no shred of sentimentality in you, man!? I was 9 when this was made, and as I've gotten older, and my nostalgia for 70's TV and movies has grown intense, a film like "Snowbeast" hits all the right notes for a warm and fuzzy viewing. The 70's fashions and mellow pacing are soothing to my mind, and it even has the occasional 'fade to black' where the commercials would have been, to transport you back to those Friday night 'movie of the week' viewings, sitting on the floor Indian-style, in front of the console TV, with a just-made Jiffy Pop. With that in mind, I'll admit that my rating IS inflated for the pure nostalgia. That aside, it is STILL a better Bigfoot film than so many of it's contemporaries, such as "Capture of Bigfoot" or the excremental "Shriek of the Mutilated". So please, those of you who aren't 40 - 50 years old, try to approach "Snowbeast" through the filter of that soft and squishy decade that was the 70's, a time that now looks so simple and uncomplicated. I'm a fan of cheesy monster movies overall, but not many of them appeal to me for multiple viewings...."Snowbeast" is one of the few I can watch over and over. Seek this movie out, if any of my above rant resonates with you.
I saw this movie on TV as a kid and it scared me. I still enjoy watching it today. One of the standout features is the movie's practical effects. This was made before CGI, so the film relies on makeup, prosthetics, and clever camera angles to bring the creature to life. They do a great job of creating atmosphere and tension, and your imagination runs wild. To me this ads realism and makes encounters with the monster even scarier.
"Snowbeast" is a largely forgotten gem from the that you will probably enjoy watching. For me it is a classic creature feature - I'd like to find more like it. Highly recommended.

Saw a little bit of this film when I was living in New York. It's been a while since I've seen it. Even watching it on "The 4:30 Movie", I remember that well.
All the way at a skiing festival, two ladies are having fun. Until one of them falls victim to a hideous creature. The terrified friend tries to explain what happened, but no one tries to believe her.
The only way to hunt down the monster is to have the bravest to do it. While trying to find the beast, another one falls victim.
After the young son finds the missing skier, dead, the terror happens at night. And the people were able to take action and try to find the creature. The result was a bear, but it was not the one that caused the problem.
Some parts of the film was a bit on the cheesy side, but it was very entertaining to say the least. Good for late night watching.
2 out of 5 stars.
