A great show that imploded faster than "Welcome Back Kotter"

From Sugar To Sheesh...

The show started as a fresh witty Drama/Comedy (now would be called Dramedy). The 1st 2.5 seasons were exciting and had a new way to interact with the viewer in a rhetorical format that regularly broke the 4th Wall with direct intention.

When it 1st aired in the 3rd season episodes were constantly delayed (filled with reruns). It was so bad the writers started poking fun at the issue, funny at first but annoying as it went along (in rerun it extra annoying).

The biggest draw was the anticipation of David & Maddy getting together. Eventually it happens but if you blink you might miss the 2 episodes before it implodes.

Romantically the last 2.5 years was sparked by Agnes & Herbert, it was a cute side story but highlighted the bigger of the 2 main characters no longer being a viable Happy Ending Couple.

Yes, Cybill having a baby and there being a Writers strike in 1988 may have cause some hiccups but not the degree that it tanked to and the horrible plots and story lines arrrrrgh !. The 1st 2.5 years 9/10 the next 2.5 years 3/4.
