Vishwatma is a solid action romp, a worthy (but lesser) follow-up to Tridev's explosive legacy.
Sunny Deol roars as Prabhat, a cop fueled by vengeance, his raw power igniting Kenya's vibrant plains. Naseeruddin Shah's Surya brings sharp wit and authority, though he's underused compared to his Tridev flair. Chunky Pandey's Akash is decent but no match for Jackie Shroff's original spark, while Divya Bharti's Madhu dazzles in "Saat Samundar Paar," stealing hearts in her debut movie despite a thin role. Sonam's Renuka fades into the background, and Amrish Puri's Ajgar Jurrat, while menacing, doesn't top his own as Tridev's Bhujang.
Rajiv Rai delivers slick direction, with Kenya's Nairobi clubs and Masai Mara chases popping off the screen, backed by Viju Shah's infectious beats. The 179-minute plot drags with familiar revenge tropes and weaker stakes than Tridev, but its masala energy, punchy dialogues, and exotic locales keep it engaging.
A fun, nostalgic ride for 90s Bollywood fans, it's a blast of action and music that holds up... just not as high as its predecessor.

Saw this film yesterday and it was awesome. It has most of the same star cast from TRIDEV (1989) with Sunny Deol, Amrish Puri, Tej Sapru, Naseeruddin Shah, Sonam, Raza Murad, Dalip Tahil, Sharat Saxsena, Dan Dhanoa
The cast also has new additions like Chunkey Pandey, Divya Bharti Originally Jackie Shroff was picked for Chunkey Pandey's role but he turned it down.
It was about two revenge seeking men Prabhat and Akash whose younger brother and family was killed by a criminal called Ajgar Zurrat (Amrish Puri) They follow him to Kenya where they meet the strict and stern Inspector Surya Pratap Singh
Sunny Deol is at his best Chunkey Pandey is funny Sonam was OK Divya Bharti was fantastic in her dance sequences Naseeruddin Shah was good Jyotsna Singh was good Amrish Puri impressed as the villain Gulshan Grover is funny Sharat Saxsena is funny Alok Nath, Aparjita are typecast

Vishwatama is a superb follow up to Tridev. Rajiv Rai ensured that the follow up would have just as much action and drama packed into this movie to rival it. Most of the Tridev cast return for this movie, Sunny Deol, Naseer - Uddin Shah, Amrish Puri, Tej Sapru and many more. There are even some new additions, for instance Chunkey Pandey(apparently Rajiv Rai intended Jackie Shroff for his role but he turned it down).
The music was fabulous, especially Saat samundar. The ending featuring a car chase was spectacular. There is one negative point and that is that Amrish Puri's character does not scale the menacing heights of Bhujang. Watching this movie reminded me again why Rajiv Rai was one of my favourite directors and why he isn't now.

This movie is just superbly done. All of it. The acting, the direction and the music is just mind blowing! Sunny Deol plays a heart-broken soldier whose one and only young brother gets murdered by Puri and his gang. The same happens to Chunkey, Nusserudin and Sonam. They all team up to find Puri who has become a successful businessman in Kenya. Once they get to Kenya the real fun and adventure begins. Other characters such as Gulshan Grover add spice and interest to the story.
Overall, the movie is a real entertainment for the whole family.

- TriviaThe filmmakers originally wanted to re-cast the same 3 male leads as their previous blockbuster film, Tridev (1989). However, since this movie was to be largely shot in Kenya, Jackie Shroff was unable to commit due to his tight schedule. Thus he was replaced by Chunky Pandey.
- GoofsThe city of Nairobi is the setting for all parts of the movie that take place in Kenya, as revealed by the characters themselves. Yet in the song "Aankhon Mein Hai Kya", the ocean is shown prominently even though Nairobi does not border any ocean.
- Crazy creditsIn the opening credits, the following is featured: "This film has been extensively shot in Kenya (Africa). We are thankful to the people of Kenya for their co-operation in the making of this film".
