Sri Krishnarjuna Yuddhamu (1963) : Brief Review -

NTR and ANR come together for an epic battle between Lord Krishna and Arjun. NTR has been associated with several movies based on chapters from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. Sri Krishnarjuna Yuddhamu is based on Arjun's marriage to Subhadra, followed by a war with Lord Krishna. The film begins with Arjun becoming a saint and entering Dwaraka after learning that Balaram has fixed Subhadra's marriage with Duryodhana. In the disguise of a saint, Arjun stays in Balaram's house to win his approval. Krishna then secretly marries Arjun and Subhadra, keeping Balaram in the dark. The King of Gandhara, Gaya, mistakenly disturbs Krishna's early morning prayer to the Sun God, and Krishna vows to kill him. Helpless and frightened, Gaya seeks help from Lord Brahma and Lord Shankar, but both refuse. Narada then suggests he seek help from Arjun, the greatest warrior. Arjun, unaware of Krishna's involvement, gives his word to protect Gaya and ends up having to face Krishna on the battlefield. Who will win this battle? Will Krishna surrender to Arjun, or will Arjun step back? The battle is between two dear friends, bound by their word and warrior dharma. They hold no enmity toward each other, and would never wish to fight even in their wildest dreams-but Kshatriya dharma has tied their hands. NTR plays Lord Krishna convincingly and makes you believe every word he says, with unmatched grace. ANR garu, as Arjuna, delivers another top-class performance, and together, they elevate the film. Subhadra, portrayed by B. Saroja Devi, is flawless, and a special mention goes to Kanta Rao, who made Narada such an interesting and entertaining character. The rest of the supporting cast also delivers well. K. V. Reddy creates another magnum opus with his impeccable skills. While true stories gave him a foundation, presenting such legendary Hindu tales on screen was no easy task. He deserves credit for making them look grand and majestic. This one's just unmissable.
