This is Terrible!
Lloyd in Space is a very unfunny science-fiction cartoon. Although created by the same guys behind Recess, it comes off nowhere near as pleasing. And compared to such other sci-fi toons as Futurama, it has very inferior delivery.
This cartoon centers on a green alien who's just becoming a teenager, but is a little too eager to grow up. Lloyd himself isn't much of a likeable character, and the whole world seems to be against him much of the time.
The one thing about this cartoon that really bugs me is Lloyd's bratty little sister, Francine. She has teleknesis, and too often uses it at everybody's disadvantage, but none more than Lloyd's! Francine is such an annoying twit, and Lloyd's mom seems very oblivious as to how dangerous she can be at times. (Remember the babysitting episode?) And most of the time, she's just plain irritating. (How about the one where she loses her teleknesis?) Francine makes Lloyd's life a living hell, yet she feels sorry for herself when Lloyd says or does hateful things to her. Other times, Lloyd even sympathizes Francine when she gets in trouble. This is all thanks to that overly-moralistic atmosphere that infests if not all, most of the programs on the Disney Channel. Unlike most shows, this sibling rivalry is TOTALLY disturbing!
Most of the other characters, namely Lloyd's friends, are okay, otherwise mediocre. Lloyd in Space should get credit for creativity, but most of what comes from this cartoon (characters, writing, jokes, etc.) falls flat. It's primarily the sibling rivalry that ruins this cartoon. Also, this cartoon follows that same pseudo-teen formula that's being done by the likes of As Told By Ginger and Braceface.
Lloyd in Space is a definite failure. If you haven't seen it, or just don't want to, then you're doing yourself a HUGE favor!

Man how I miss this show...
I don't think it was the best animated show ever, as it is occasionally clichéd and formulaic, but I still liked it for its really good and interesting concept. The animation was nice and colourful, with stunning galactic backgrounds, interesting character features and I loved how Lloyd's house was animated. The music was a nice touch as well, the main theme is still memorable for me. The story lines were occasionally formulaic I agree, but they were also original and creative, and the writing was funny and smart. The characters were somewhat clichéd, Brittany's bratty sister persona is not exactly familiar territory, but I liked the character still for her looks and personality. And Lloyd is an appealing title character, so is Eddie. Also the voice acting was dynamic and top-notch. Overall, I really liked this show. 8/10 Bethany Cox
Something Beautiful...
Words cannot describe how this formulaic, cliché farce about a green alien teen (and his daily struggles) makes me feel. Not since before the airing of "Fillmore" had Disney EVER put out something so captivating. Many have said that "Lloyd in Space" is basically just "Recess" in a different wrapper, but I beg to differ. Although Recess was a gem in it's own right, it didn't come across as having the same production quality as Lloyd in Space, or the same writing/acting quality (Yes, even voice-over actors can be bad). Although its not original (in any way, shape or form), "Lloyd In Space" carries a certain signature style, which I believe can NEVER EVER be duplicated (With exceptions held for "Paul & Joe", of course). I'd give anything to have a final episode placed in production, where every question us "Die-hard" fans have could be answered
Pleasant cartoon
I find Lloyd In Space a very pleasant and diverting cartoon. Even if conceptually it is not perhaps terribly original, it works quite well enough. The voicing of the main characters is well done. Courtland Mead as Lloyd and Justin Shenkarow as Eddie are particularly convincing, and Diedrich Bader as Harvulian "Boomer" Standervault is hilarious. It's also interesting to note, along with co-creator Joe Ansolabehere and musical wizard Jim Lang, some of the voice artists (E.G., Shenkarow, Anndi McAfee, Dan Castellaneta etc.) from Hey Arnold! as well.
The Passion Of The Lloyd
The movie is a brilliant artwork molded together by a human who is too cool for air in outer space (spoiled humans with their "air") and a living brain who's really smart!
This series is much more than first perceived. Lloyd obviously represents Jesus and his every day struggles of a telepathic sister, green skin, and petty robot clone.
The show represents Generation X and our urge to stick it to the man (reference to the episode of the same name).
To put it simply, this revolutionary masterpiece stands for all that is American.
