'Devadoothan'..meaning a 'messenger of god' is a perfect example of intellectuality and experimentation in Malayalam Cinema..where the silence of the movie says too much at times..it's always the unknown factor or the quest for the unknown which is haunting & likewise, Devadoothan though depicting somewhat a clear story line has the viewer feeling that "there's something at the end of the tunnel". Mohanlal beautifully plays a music maestro whose urge for truth becomes the core of the movie..almost all characters are beautifully arranged & do deliver beclouded statements which add to the suspense & justify their roles..giving us chills and enriching imaginations, the background music fulfills its responsibility as being the movie's backbone...Devadoothan may not be a movie for masses, but stands out as an effort which can never be forgotten..

One should watch this movie just to experience the music in it. Vidyadagar's composition is that powerful in this movie. Great Script, direction, cinematography and acting. However, the factors which made this movie one step behind being a classic are the unnecessary characters by Jagdeesh and Jagadhi. I felt some of their scenes was an obstacle for the flow of the movie. There were also unnecessary fight sequences just to show the mass of Mohanlal. If we can forget these two elements of the movie then I feel it's an all-time classic.

Phenomenal in all aspects of film making like acting, cinematography, art direction, songs, Background scores, editing all under the direction of the Master Sibi Malayil.

There is never gonna be a movie like "Devadoothan" in Malayalam Cinema.

Best horror movie of mollywood. A must watch. Excellent performace, exceptional script, awsome direction.

This is an amazing Musical Horror film, that at first watch we may not feel attracted to, but will keep us dragging towards the film again and again, and for sure,it will make to our recommended list. And the music, it's just OMG. An amazing thing. Some reactions from Mohanlal may seem unwanted or a bit odd, and few characters are not utilized properly, like Jagathy sir and Jagadeesh and the actress which plays Sneha in it. Any way, it's super amazing :-)
