    A Brave Actress

Edith Storey plays a spinster in a rural town who falls in love with a young Donald MacBride: so young as to be unrecognizable as the second banana in many 1930s comedies. There comes word that a felon is in the neighborhood, and his description vaguely matches MacBride.

It's a nice little comedy from Vitagraph. It's enhanced by having Billy Bletcher in the cast; he was not just a voice actor for the cartoons. His movie career started about 1914, and extended t more than 500 screen performances into the 1970s. He died in 1979 at the age of 84.

What's amazing about this movie is Miss Storey's make-up is arranged to make her look as plain as possible, her hair is arranged in two pigtails, and she has a tooth blacked out. She was a serious actress, but when the role called for it, she was willing to forego the glamor that most stars exuded.
