Beautiful People

Maybe the biggest achievement of this film is that it captured an error of this not coming back in the Greek island of Mykonos. You see Mycobos is not the same anymore. From the overbuilt of the last 20 years to the tohigh rise of prices that made it only accesible to rich people.

The beauty of Myconos itself and also of the Greek model Rea Toutounzi thought will not do much for you to enjoy this film. The script is non-existent, the performances are very uncomfortable and you simply have a film that is trying to impress you but it will not because it needs a talent to make films and obviously the director does not have it(sorry). Dull characters and a bad script though are not enough to stop you from watching this...

Jean Luc Godard made "Le Mepris" during the 60's.Now a greek movie of the 21st century.The supporting roles were tolerable but the leading ones were not.They could not act.The script as an adaption of a previous film is nive.A young architect with his ex-model wife are spending their vacation in a villa of a rich old guy.The architect wants to build a very big house for the rich guy.That's why he tolerates his flirt to his wife.Till they have sex.In the meanwhile there is a threat of a war etc,etc.Too many roles can not be directed without a sense of imagination.A too old fashioned script needs something more.

Honestly it wasn't a bad film at all. I really enjoyed the plot that developed smoothly. The film discusses the dependence of people on those who hold power and money, the gradual loss of romantic feelings towards someone who isn't staying true to his beliefs and the temptations hidden in new acquaintances when a relationship is going through challenges. Many playful moments create an erotic atmosphere and the beautiful scenery of Mykonos island draws you in. I am not sure about the performance of Rea Toutountzi but surely Athina Maximou and Nikos Kouris suited their roles perfectly. The ending was interesting.

I translated this from the movie festival brochure, it was originally in Greek, so sorry for any mistakes. Mykonos is the 'capital' of Greek cosmopolitan life, especially in the summer. In one of the most luxurious villas on the island, which belongs to a rich businessman, a group of elite people spend their holidays. Amongst them, a newly wed couple.Andreas, an architect who is designing the owner's new exotic house, and Rea his impressive wife. In a unique scenic setting that Agios Pelagos offers with it's strong wind and blinding light, this group of people will intersect with unexpected results. Things become even more complicated when Rea's love for Andreas gradually turns into contempt.

The scenery was beautiful, but the film just didn't click for me.
