It is definitely not worth spending either money or time. It is the same hackneyed plot of a guy and a girl meeting and falling in love. But this is with a western touch. But it fails miserably in either depicting a love story or giving it the western touch. Never do we feel that the hero and heroin are in love. There is no depth to either of their characters. Probably, with a better cast, some justice could have been brought about to the characters. Finally, it is a movie with no fun, no acting, no theme, no plot, no comedy , no action, no thrill, no romance (i associate romance to something more passionate). Definitely not a movie you would want to go with your family. Overall, if you are looking for a movie with some content, this is definitely not an option. I shall wait for the day when bollywood movies are something that i can wait to watch and i can refer to my friends as a "must watch" movie.
I agree that this movie is about sex without any seduction or love. In fact, it makes sex seem so boring and makes me wonder why bother. I actually don't think at all this remotely speaks of how Canadian Indian second generations feel about sex. At any rate, did you know the first hotel/drunk idea was copied from a Korean movie, Yopgijogin gunyo, made in 2001 or thereabouts? That Korean film was actually brilliant as comedy but at the same time compels the audience to reflect on the complexity of man-woman relationships and man-woman difference in experience and thinking. I mean most of the Neal N Nikki hotel/drunk segment was emulated take by take. Can't Bollywood movie makers try to make originals only, please? Seriously, I never enjoyed a Hindi flick that is a copycat. The ones I enjoy have always spoken Indian feelings through Indian cultural means.
Boy meet girl, boy hates girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy engaged to girl's sister, etc. etc. etc. We've seen it a million times in Hindi Cinema. But usually, the boy and girl are traditional, goody-two-shoe perfect Indian beings who spout about tradition and culture and damn the west. Well, not in Neal N Nikki. Neal and Nikki make out and have sex. Basically, anyone expecting traditional Indian entertainment aka Yash Chopra's hit from 1995 Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge will be sorely disappointed. Ten years later, he makes Neal N Nikki, the anti-DDLJ. These two are so out there, if they ever met the lead pair from DDLJ, Raj and Simran's heads would explode! I enjoyed it better than Salaam Namaste. Completely unpretentious and fun. Moronic and utterly stupid at times, but pretty progressive the way it looks at sex and the love lives of twenty-somethings. Uday Chopra is an SRK wannabe who needs to get his own style. We have too many guys trying (and failing) to pull off the arrogant "cool dude," and Zayed and Uday are NO SHAH RUKH KHAN. Even when Shah Rukh tried to act like a stud, he still came off as dorky, which was charming. These guys try way too hard to ape his style, but really seem to believe that they're the next best thing. Sure, Uday has muscles and height but is a terrible actor. He has no depth, no range. His lipstick also distracts. Tanishaa is mediocre, but shows some sparks of Kajol. She did a much better job emoting in Sarkar- here, she went over-the-top in some scenes. I believe if she goes light on the make-up and tries to restrain herself, she'll do better. She's not one-tenth of her sister in terms of talent. Kajol could go over-the-top without hamming, or could overplay a role and make it look charming and spastic, aka the beginning of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Tanishaa is a wannabe. A toned body is the last thing an actress needs (Look at frumpy, but talented Kajol). Still, she's funny in some scenes, especially the "Are you a virgin?" conversation. Richa Pallod follows the trend of her costars and is neither all that attractive nor talented. She's bland in that Shreya Saran, Ayesha Takia, Bhumika Chawla kind of way where you wouldn't be able to pick her out in a crowd of extras. Clearly, gone are the days when actors and actresses were actually unique, instead of talentless star kids (We're looking at you, Kareena/Esha/Zayed/Fardeed/Tusshar) or cookie-cutter supermodels with the same personality (If you replaced Priyanka with Lara in a movie, would anyone really notice?). The music was enjoyable too, and the locations were nice. Gorgeous cinematography and a polished product. With stronger stars, this one could've been better, but as it is, not bad. If critics can digest the turgid Salaam Namaste, which I found disappointing in spite of mammoth expectations, they should dish out some compliments for this one too. Granted, I had low expectations from this one, but not bad! Pretty fun! Don't think about it and enjoy the candy floss airhead romance. 7/10.
A sex comedy from Yashraj Studios! This film flopped at the box office but it's watchable. The jokes are juvenile and sex-obsessed, probably ideal for naughty fourteen year olds. Uday Chopra is alright but sometimes annoys. Tanisha gets to strut her stuff but is an average actress. There are plenty of hot bodies and eye candy for both sexes. There's a specially sexy number "Halla Re" that may get you moving. This film probably isn't worth a visit to the theater but it's perfectly watchable at home as long as you are comfortable with sex jokes and innuendo.

Yash Chopra movies- the flavoring was long lost. Story - I was not expecting anything fresh. Direction - Refer to the first line. Cinematography - How much can you rely on the background to take you through hours of ruthless time killing!
Tanisha is too loud and exaggerated to thicken a weak plot. Uday Chopra is more than just disappointing.
Pre-marital sex is an over-talked issue which went looking too naive for the duo to pull it off well. Everything else about the story is too repetitive and too cliché to make any prominent difference to the movie , which starts stumbling in the first few minutes.
Songs seem to have been hummed too much. Lyrics are not worth getting tuned.
If there is any high point in the movie, may be its just the scenic beauty but then i would rather pay a hefty amount and visit Britain than spend hours watching a sad attempt at romance!
The freshness and the feel good effect of the yesteryear Yash Chopra mushy flicks have lost their color and charm in the crowd of new comers expecting the costly sets and the music set up to help them climb the ladders of fame!
It doesn't work anymore!
