    A bottom five episode.

While this episode isn't really bad, it definitely isn't up to The Comic Strip's standards.Maybe if you are over sixty and know about beatniks, it might me better.Everyone does what they are known for this time.Rik Mayall does his Young Ones/Dangerous Brothers character.Dawn French plays the slut.Danny Peacock is the crazy one and Peter Richardson is the cool guy with all the good one-liners.In that sense it's typical Comic Strip. After that, there's not much entertainment here.It has the twist ending we expect from the series but the story is severely lacking.I did enjoy it more the second time but there definitely won't be a third time.If you're not going to watch the entire series, don't watch this.

    Classic!

This is one of the many jewels in the Comic Strip crown. All of the usual suspects are present and they're all in fine form. Only a brief appearance from Robbie Coltrane sadly.

It also stands the test of time.

Essentially it's like a spoof of beat poets and Warhol wannabes. Rik is at his very best as a frustrated artist who has just been dumped by his girlfriend. Dawn shines bright in this episode, especially when Adrian is haphazardly licking her boob whilst Peter commentates. And thanks to Nigel Planer, I'll never look at a banana the same way again. "Oh Dear! Oh Dear! Oh Dear! Oh Dear!"

    Don't miss this one!

    The Beat Generation

The Comic Strip spoof arty films of the 1960s. The one with jazz and beat poets.

This one has a walking saxophonist belting out an irritating tune.

It is all very pretentious in a deliberate manner. You could see this as a parody of 1960s continental movies as well.

To be fair there are several clever sight gags but for me it was just too slapdash.

[Kix is working under the sink with a wrench]

Kix: See, the thing is Des, lead's very valuable 'cause it's heavy. You see, the heavier something is, the more valuable it is. The only exception to this rule is concrete.
