    The Colonel's Daughter

Drake is in India when a local policeman offer him assistance if Drake investigates a British colonel involved in a suspicious death.

The Colonel's Daughter is an excellent episode. McGoohan is fantastic as always, and Virginia Maskell is very good as the titular character. The characters are very well rounded, and there's a couple of good fight scenes. The plot is reminiscent of the earlier 25-minute Danger Man episode The Traitor.

There's plenty of familiar faces in the guest cast: Zia Mohyeddin, John Bennett and George Pastell, as well as Warren Mitchell as an Indian(!) civil servant.

Are butterflies the enemy of democracy?!

When Drake is in India on some sort of mission, the local police chief enlists his help to investigate a recent death. The employee of a retired British colonel died at the beginning of the show while mounting some butterflies--and for some odd reason the policeman is interested in this. So, Drake insinuates himself into the life of the Colonel's daughter and investigates while pretending to be a guy working in the travel industry. He notices that each day the Colonel leaves on butterfly hunting expeditions--but oddly, carries a shotgun! Well, Drake follows him at a distance and finds the man is actually picking up secret military secrets which are being left for him by someone in the Indian government.

Apart from the fact that many of the so-called 'Indians' look about as Indian as my cat, this was actually a very good episode. It featured some nice twists--particularly at the end. Well worth seeing.
