The movie that Joey turns off at the beginning of the episode is I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). Kevin Williamson, creator and writer of the show, wrote the screenplay for that movie.

Goofs
When Pacey asks Joey to watch the Jeep, while he and Dawson go into the shop, he states he doesn't have the keys to restart the Jeep if he turns the engine off. After the party at Dawson's house, Pacey is shown shining a flashlight around checking for the lady killer. He jumps in his Jeep and starts the engine and the key is in plain view.
