A very effective and touching episode about drug addiction.

It's Monday and Friday and Gannon received a new case. It seems that officers had filed a report the night before after a home was burglarized and the lady of the house was phoning to tell the police that there were additional items missing that were not in the police report. Friday and Gannon meet with the lady and it is pretty obvious the parents have a very different approach to parenting--Mom is a softy and Dad is the tough guy.

After following some leads, it appears that the person who stole the items did so to feed a drug habit. However, making their job more confusing is a sloppy pawn shop owner who didn't seem to notice or care that his customer showed him i.d. that obviously belonged to someone else. But, after pushing and digging the officers have a pretty good idea who the thief is. See the episode for yourself to see what I mean--I really don't want to say more and spoil the suspense.

Overall, a rather effective and touching episode. When "Dragnet" dramatized crimes committed by addicts, it was super-effective because of its realism. Episodes to avoid are the ones where instead of investigating these cases the police talk and talk and debate the drug issues--and losing many in the audience in the process.
