    Solid Fantasy Island satisfaction

Gopher and Judy McCoy make a cute couple. The story with Toni Tennielle and the convict is actually a little above average. It was also satisfying to see Mr. Roark flex his considerable muscle as the ultimate law on Fantasy Island. Totally out of left field is a pleasant cameo by Freddy Weller ("Games People Play") singing an ode to Fantasy Island. Where did that come from? Tattoo totally nails his impression of Bing. Enjoy!

    A Gopher and an ape

I would have to call this episode a very weak one, as neither story had any "bite" to it, and both were of the fluffy variety. The familiar faces include Toni Tennille, Fred Grandy, Jack Carter, Pat Klous, Michael Parks, and Freddy Weller starring as himself, although I never heard of him; an interesting tidbit has him singing a song called, you guessed it, "Fantasy Island", which is pretty cheesy. Right off the bat, I didn't sense any chemistry between Tennille and Parks, and had a hard time believing they were pen pals, or that they even cared that much about one another. Grandy was pretty good in his role, and you can tell he can actually "act", but his story contained an element that I don't particularly care for, and that's when one's fantasy mixes with another's, such as Klous' character. Their chemistry was better than the pair I mentioned above, but still not enough for me to recommend this episode. The only entertainment I had was when Tattoo imitated Liberace and Bing Crosby, and the latter imitation had a small ape involved, while holding a small radio or stereo.

    • Goofs
When Linda Larson is shown being given a lei, after getting off the plane, the sleeve of her sister's lavender cardigan is (almost imperceptibly) visible, screen left behind her. A moment later Sandy is shown being placed into the wheelchair, but she must have already been in it during the previous shot.
