Flintstones Rear Window
One of the best of Season 2. Brickrock is a spot on parody of Alfred Hitchcock. Fred convinces Barney that Mrs. Brickrock's body is in a trunk left in his house. Brickrock does admit the trunk is "for her body". See the episode to see what that means.
ALVIN BRICKROCK, AT YOUR SERVICE?
Elliot Field plays the voice of Brickrock, and is just hilarious. I think even Hitch himself would have been impressed. Fred and Wilma have a strange new neighbor, and right away there are suspicions. Brickrock is a rather mysterious guy... and what happened to his wife? The big question surrounds a trunk, and just what's inside. Scared to death Fred recruits Barney to do a little detective work.
Interestingly, this story may have been inspired by an episode of Hitchcock's classic tv show, all about a man (played by David Wayne), who kills his wife and stuffs her in the trunk of his car. Creative writing by Larry Markes, who wrote six episodes for the show, best known for writing the DEAN MARTIN CELEBRITY ROAST series.
There's not much background on Elliot Field, except to say he did a lot of voice work on other classic cartoon series, such as QUICK DRAW MCGRAW and the INCREDIBLE HULK. His impersonation of Hitchcock is the whole show.
10 Plus Stars. SEASON 2 remastered color dvd box set. You may want to get the box set for this single episode.
More fun than funny.
I thought a big highlight were Barney's comical reactions and quips to crazy situations Fred put him in. The man eating combination fish / bird was another highlight that was somewhat funny.
The episode wasn't totally flat. The writing was fairly snappy and witty. But, it never seemed to click to produce big laughs. Only mildly funny scenes. Might have been better if they'd found a funnier Alfred Hitchcock impersonator.

- TriviaThe character Alvin Brickrock spoofs the famous director and mystery show host Alfred Hitchcock and the title of this episode spoofs his TV show, Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955).
- GoofsWhen Wilma leaves the house she tells Fred, with Barney, she's "going over to Betty's." Right next door, that is - but only briefly after, during their confused attempt to open Alvin's trunk thinking Agatha was inside, at the sound of a car pulling up & stopping, Fred says "It's Wilma!" (which she then did come right in, but without any car sound leaving out, or necessity to have driven just next door!)

Arnold: Collect for the paper, Mr. Flintstone.
Fred Flintstone: How much?
Arnold: $1.75.
Fred Flintstone: $1.75 only four weeks newspapers?
Arnold: Four weeks newspapers, and a month's rentals on my comics. Peter Gunnite and the Bald Blonde Caper, and I was a Member of the Mafia for the FBI, and I was a Member of the FBI for the Mafia, and Peter Masonite and the Permanent Wave Murders.
Fred Flintstone: I don't remember that one.
Arnold: Oh sure, the killer throws his victims into a vat of permament wave lotion and they get curled to death.
Fred Flintstone: Oh yeah, yeah, he buries them in snail shells! Go on.
Arnold: And you're 26 cents overdue for my Little Golden Treasury of children's murder mysteries.
Fred Flintstone: Oh well I'm not finished with that yet, here's your money, Arnold.
