    Daphne Does Dinner

    Farce.

I don't think any sitcom has ever used the theatrical convention as well as 'Frasier'.

However, around those middling eighth and ninth series the show seemed to lose confidence in its ability to pull it off, and such episodes did not appear.

Thankfully in the tenth year they have taken the plunge again, and this is as close to a good old-fashioned 'Frasier' episode as you can get. The years are rolled back and the quality shines through.

This is a very good episode indeed, and the tenth series has found a bit of form of late.

Everyone has their moment (yes, even Mrs Moon), and it all makes for a lot of fun.

Has Anyone Seen the Three Stooges?

Frasier and Niles have had disastrous dinner parties. When Daphne suggest that she do the next one, Frasier will have nothing to do with it. But everything that could go wrong, seems to. This is classic slapstick, reminiscent of Laurel and Hardy or he aforementioned Larry, Moe, and Curly. Pure madness.

    One of the best episodes!

Goes a bit slow at first but Frasier is hilarious in this episode. And it all ends with a bang!

    • Trivia
The title is a play on the name of a 1978 adult movie, "Debbie Does Dallas."
    • Goofs
The kitchen in Niles' apartment is greatly changed from previous episodes. There is a new door in the back leading into a new hallway, and a new cupboard big enough to hold a man. These were likely changed so Kelsey Grammer could sneak in/out and hide.
    • Quotes

[to keep a party afloat, Martin has been forced to impersonate Mike Shaw, a painter]

Jeremy: What impresses me the most is the way you reinvent identity while recording anonymity.

Martin Crane: Well, that took years to get down.

      Alex: Sure. Sure.

Thad: Come on, tell us: What do you think of Warhol?

      Martin Crane: [faux-contemplative pause] Crap.

      Thad: Kienholz?

      Martin Crane: Crap.

Antonia: It is so refreshing to have someone speak so candidly.

Martin Crane: And you have to believe me, because I'm a fancy-ass artist.

      [everyone laughs]
