Ridiculous treatment of lady wanting to save her own life

This isn't a review of the episode per se, I'm just gobsmacked at the treatment of the lady wanting the preventative surgery! Is this because the episode is 20 years old or whatever? SURELY people aren't actually this ridiculous these days?!

The bloke feeling like his wife was selfish for wanting to avoid an 85% chance of getting cancer - just because he wanted bio kids/is worried about her mood swings and libido. What an A*SHOLE! And then Derek/Izzie also giving the woman a hard time. It seriously feels unbelievable, like I can't believe anyone would feel the woman wasn't 100% doing the right thing - nevermind being so open about disagreeing with her even if they did. The fact it was implied that it was genuinely a silly mistake, and Addison was unreasonable for going along with it, just... actually I am going to rate the episode low as a result because it's just so flipping ridiculous. I'm a bloke btw.

Just for the sake of nostalgia.

I've decided to rewatch that episode I remember enjoying, after struggling to finish season 14. And this is how I remember the show. And why I used to love it so much. It had the perfect pace, a balanced mixed bag of drama and comedy, that never felt forced. Even the awkward voice overs were strangely relevant. Zero preachiness or agendas shoved down our throats, either. It's crazy how toxic society got in less than two decades. Even music placements were done with taste. I planned on proceeding with season 15 next, but I'm really tempted to carry on rewatching this one instead. That's the Grey's Anatomy I know and love, and want to remember.

    Everyday episode

This is a typical filler-episode. I see that other people rate them low, and dislike these kind of episodes, but I don't understand why. It's unrealistic that every episode would be filled with action and drama and life changing moments. We need these episodes for the other ones to stand out. Plus, these everyday episodes make the show more realistic. I like them.

Yang and Burke out on a date is really funny. I love their energy and their obvious differences. They're an odd couple.

Meredith and Derek's elevator-moment at the end is really great

After Izzy slaps Alex and the angle is on him if you look at her profile you can see that Katherine Heigl is laughing at his reaction to the slap.
    • Goofs
When a pigeon eats George's bagel at the beginning of the episode, you can clearly see a wire attached to the bird's leg so it wouldn't fly away.

Dr. Meredith Grey: In the eight grade, my English class had to read "Romeo and Juliet". Then for extra credit, Ms. Synder made us act out all the parts. Sal Scafarillo was Romeo and as fate would have it, I was Juliet. All the other girls were jealous, but I had a slightly different take. I told Ms. Synder Juliet was an idiot. For starters she falls for the one guy she knows she can't have, then she blames fate for her own bad decision. Ms. Synder explained to me that when fate comes into play, choice sometimes goes out the window. At the ripe old age of 13 I was very clear that love, like life, is about making choices, and fate has nothing to do with it. Everyone thinks it's so romantic. Romeo and Juliet, true love, how sad. If Juliet was stupid enough to fall for the enemy, drink the bottle of the poison and go to sleep in a mausoleum, she deserved whatever she got!
