One for the Road

Harry O

10/10

SO WHO DID IT?

Slick little mystery, complimented by a cozy cast of familiars. You have to love this slice of contemporary noir.

Harry's client is Jennifer Roth (Carol Eve Rossen) a famous attorney, saddled with a drinking problem. She attends a special dinner and leaves drunk -- with absolutely no idea of what happens next. She wakes up to the charge of running down a young woman, her car damaged, and the end of her career? What a nightmare.

Point #1. You know she's innocent, and beautifully set up. That's the call here. Just fascinating.

Point #2. Has to be someone from the elite party that Jennifer attended, but who and why? Hint; watch the faces, much like in PERRY MASON.

Point #3. Should Harry drink anymore? I had to toss that in because we all love David Janssen. With Trench on his back, it's 50/50.

Rossen, as always, a genuinely talented actress, the role possibly written for her. Co-starring Larry Hagman (who you have to keep an eye on) as Bernie. Tough and gruff Robert Loggia plays Joe. DYNASTY and DAYS OF OUR LIVES co-star Christopher Allport plays Wayne.

Good direction by Harry Falk, known for STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 2 remastered Warner Brothers dvd box set. Beautiful cover. The sets are pricey, and WB seems to keep the price high, so shop around. Worth the cost for the memories.
